Andrew Sean Greer is the author of a story collection, How It Was for Me, and three novels: The Path of Minor Planets, The Confessions of Max Tivoli, and his latest, The Story of a Marriage. His carefully crafted tales are both touching and thought-provoking character observations about ordinary people with extraordinary, intriguing lives. He worked as a chauffeur, theater tech, and television extra before becoming an award-winning author. He currently lives in San Francisco. His identical twin brother, Michael Greer, is also a writer.

Max Tivoli, the character at the center of Andrew Sean Greer's remarkable new novel [The Confessions of Max Tivoli], starts life with a bang. Max is conceived in Golden Gate Park in 1870 at the moment when Blossom Rock is dynamited in San Francisco Bay, creating the largest explosion in the city's history.
